Department Description
The Adult Infusion room is a revenue generating department for the Cancer Center and the health system as a whole. This nursing position provides direct patient care to those receiving infusional therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, transfusion, hydrations and a wide variety of other non-cancer directed agents. This vital position is part of our core staffing model, needed for sustaining and expanding operations.

Responsibilities
The incumbent is responsible for sustaining an environment of intrinsic good will for the practice while providing optimum services to patients. The incumbent provides licensed medical support to medical care providers as a vocational nurse for the department/clinical team to which it is assigned. The incumbent is supervised by a licensed physician or registered nurse when performing duties within the vocational nurse scope of practice. The incumbent works under the direction of clinic/department management for administrative purposes, including customer service, professional behavior & development, assignment & scheduling of work, and performance of job functions not requiring supervision by an LIP.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Two (2) years of Recent LVN experience.
- Must provide documentation of graduation from an accredited school of vocational nursing, or completion of education and experience as a corpsman in the United States military.
- Valid current California licensure as a vocational nurse.
- Current CPR certification.
- Must have blood withdraw/venipuncture certification.
- Must pass UCDHS Pharmacology and Venipuncture verification exams.
- Valid IV Therapy Certification and must pass the UCDHS IV Therapy verification exam.
- Applicants are encouraged to upload license and certification if required of the position.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Ability to utilize medical terminology appropriately.
- Knowledge of current trends in nursing.

- Knowledge of legal implications in clinical practice and documentation.

- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, taking into consideration protective interventions, development (behavioral and physical) and physiological characteristics specific to the patients.
Preferred Qualifications
- Outpatient or Oncology Specific experience.
- Infusion and Injection experience.
- Procedures including but not limited to Cystoscopy or FNA's.
- EPIC EMR.
Special Requirements
Works overtime as defined by the collective bargaining agreements; floats to other areas; and works weekends, holidays and call as required.

This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
