Hours: Eight hour rotating shifts, 6-2, 7-3, 8-4, 9-5, 10-6.
This is a peri-operative position as the R.N. will rotate through pre-op, operating room, and post-op. This is a Monday - Friday position, no call, Holidays or Weekends.
Summary:
The Operating Nurse anticipates and fulfills the needs of the patients, coordinates activities in room, and communicates effectively with staff and others. He/she assures that documentation is appropriate, accurate, and complete. The Operating Nurse collaborates with other disciplines to revise the patient care plans according to changing patient needs. He/she also ensures individual skills are current by attending relevant education programs and maintaining status.
Responsibilities:
- EDUCATION
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current registration as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of New York
- BSN strongly preferred
- BLS Certification required
- EXPERIENCE
- Two (2) years of acute care experience required
- One (1) year of operating room experience or completion of a postgraduate perioperative program preferred
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Computer skills
- Ability to communicate with all levels of staff including physicians, etc.
- WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The position requires heavy physical demands of lifting, positioning patients and moving equipment
- Works on a nursing unit and in patient rooms
