Nurse Practitioner (Full-time, 10 month position)

The Student Health Center supports the university by evaluating, treating, maintaining, and promoting optimal physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of APU students. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide comprehensive health care, including outpatient medical care and urgent care, to undergraduate, graduate, and international students at Azusa Pacific University. It is a full-time, 10-month (August 1st through May 31st) appointment with full benefits.
Required Education
- Possession of a valid California license as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Current National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Furnishing License.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
Required Experience
- Two years of experience in clinical medicine is preferred.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
- Provides primary care to ambulatory patients, obtains extensive health histories including physical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, and environmental aspects.
- Performs comprehensive physicals such as nursing, athletic, employment, and DPT.
- Evaluates workers compensation injuries and prepares applicable paperwork.
- Performs women’s health exams including Pap Smear.
- Performs minor surgical procedures.
- Proficient in making medical diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Orders and interprets diagnostic lab test, x-rays, and imaging.
- Furnishes prescriptive medications.
- Health promotion education.
- Assists in maintaining Nurse Practitioner protocols in coordination with physician and other nurse practitioners.
- Acts as a mentor in precepting nurse practitioner students.
- Participates in regular Health Center staff meetings.
- Maintains knowledge and skills at a current and optimal level and demonstrates a commitment to professional development by participating in professional activities and educational programs.
- Assists in strategic planning and assessment of Learning Outcomes for the Student Health Center.
- Assists in Policy and Procedure development.
- Comply with confidentiality regulations as set by FERPA, federal, state, and local agencies.
- Regular punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs.
- Upholds all University and Student Health Center policies and procedures regarding confidentiality, privacy and security of protected health information.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Chief Medical Officer and SHC Administrative Director.

Compensation
Grade 18: $82,013.85 to $94,316.43 is the annual salary for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
