What You'll Do:
As a Health and Safety Superintendent, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, technical and professional support in the development and implementation of the facility’s health and safety (HS) and Responsible Care programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and corporate and industry standards consistent with Lubrizol’s Corporate Philosophy, and Health, Safety, Environmental and Security policy.
- Facilitate the identification, prioritization, development, and implementation of HS department activities to support and contribute to the goals and objectives of the facility and the overall HS function.
- Monitor leading/lagging indicators identifying trends and communicating with leadership to proactively assist in gap closure.
- Support the management of resources (personnel and expense) across the HS department to ensure resources are assigned appropriately, priorities are being addressed and that personnel are properly aligned to avoid non-value added efforts.
- Act as Workers’ Compensation Site Administrator.
- Provide the leadership and development to the HS staff supporting an enriching work environment with job assignments and experiences that provide for professional growth.
- Represent Lubrizol on community outreach activities as appropriate.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Skills That Make a Difference:
- Bachelor degree in science, engineering, occupational health and safety or related major from an accredited university.
- Three or more years of progressively increasing responsibility preferably in a chemical plant.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft office suite.
- Strong working/technical knowledge of regulations and programs such as, but not limited to: OSHA General and Construction Industry, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Workers’ Compensation, and DOT.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be a self-starter that can work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to work successfully with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
Considered a Plus:
- CSP certification
- Emergency response experience (EMT certification)
