Roadrunner Veterinary Emergency and Specialty is consistently open 24/7 (we never close) and 100% privately owned with no hidden corporate backing. We're open and transparent in all that we do. We're owned by a single owner who's a practicing DVM in our hospital. We're a values-based hospital which, simply put, means that how we treat each other, how we treat our clients and how we make our decisions are based on our core values, not on money, impulsive emotions or other factors. Our values remain the same over time so what you see is what you get- it won't change once you sign on or down the road. We have management in the building 7 days a week so we're able to see and address concerns quickly.
We're moving into a new 14,000 sq ft building, designed by an award-winning veterinary-specific architect and builder, in Albuquerque in late 2024! We'll have a large treatment area and separate ICU, conference room, 11 exam rooms, multiple private ER and specialist doctor offices and a CT. We have a full-time board certified veterinary surgeon and we're adding other specialists.
We're hiring emergency veterinarians who share our values and want to grow with our hospital.
We're committed to a healthy work/life balance for our staff. Our full-time schedule is 2-3 shifts per week so there is ample time to enjoy family, hobbies, and time outside of work. Our tech/doctor ratio is monitored to ensure patients are receiving quality care and that our doctors have the support that they need. We promote ongoing learning and growth from our support staff so they also have the potential to make a fulfilling career out of veterinary medicine.
Benefits include:
- Generous pay. Our experienced ER vets receive $180,000-$250,000 base salary plus 25% production depending on schedule worked and experience level. We will match all other hospitals' offers for qualified applicants!
- 100% paid health insurance premium. We offer fully paid health insurance for all full-time staff. This is something we've done long-term and something we'll continue to provide.
- CE stipends for all staff, not just doctors. We support lifelong learning and want to enable our colleagues to grow professionally and personally. We also offer in-house training such as Recover CPR to all staff members.
- Opportunities to attend cultural and sporting events. Albuquerque and the surrounding area offer many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, theater, and sporting events and we enjoy sharing these experiences with all of our staff members.
- Full-time, confidential staff counselor free of charge. We take employee wellness and mental health seriously and believe in being proactive about these discussions.
- Los Suenos Community Giving, our 501c3 approved non-profit that helps pets of the unhoused and those needing the most support in our community. We believe in giving back to the community where we live and work and in providing quality veterinary care to those who need it the most.
- Generous sign-on bonus. New hires who prove to be a great fit will be given a sign-on bonus while our loyal, long-term team members receive a retention bonus.
- Relocation allowance of up to $10,000 for qualified applicants. Moving is expensive and New Mexico is fantastic!
- An owner and management team who stick up for our staff, work on the clinic floor, don't throw others under the bus, model the professionalism we expect and are loyal and committed to our team.
