Job Summary
Performs invasive cardiac, peripheral vascular diagnostic, interventional and electrophysiology procedures using sophisticated imaging, hemodynamic monitoring and recording equipment to assess and treat cardiac and peripheral vascular disease. Ability to perform all of the duties of a Cardiac Technician. Ability to work with growth and development needs of unique client populations. Possesses a thorough knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamic principles, X-Ray techniques and emergent and routine cardiac care. Utilizes effective cardiac communication skills and knows change process and utilizes conflict resolution. Possesses expert level understanding of pharmacologic options to treat patients. Understands any special protocols for conscious sedation of patients. Ability to work with the growth and development needs of unique client populations including children to geriatrics.
Qualifications
High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
Knowledge of basic cardiac anatomy and physiology. Working knowledge of basic and intermediate life threatening cardiac rhythms, special equipment used in cardiac testing, computers, and medical terminology.
Must meet a minimum of one of the following criteria dependent on facility or department requirements needs as it may vary by needs:
- Possess Certified Cardiographic Technician
- Associate’s degree or higher in a health science field
- Three years’ experience as a cardiac technician
- Obtain Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) or Cardiac Rhythm Monitoring certification (CRAT) within one year into position. The department will determine which certification is appropriate per the department workflows.
