Summary:
Reporting to the Physician Assistant (PA) Director, the General Surgery/Trauma Physician Assistant performs advanced diagnostic and therapeutic tasks related to surgery and trauma under the supervision of the surgeon. Responsibilities include acting as a first or second assistant in surgery, participating in pre- and post-operative patient care, and complying with all safety and infection control standards. The PA also engages in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement/performance improvement activities and performs other duties as assigned. The Medical Staff Bylaws and Title 16 of the California Administrative Code grant the PA privileges as outlined.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and completion of a physician assistant program
- Current California State Physician Assistant License granted by the Physician Assistant Examining Committee and DEA registration
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
