The Clinical Educator is the rock of our RT team; they are a source of support, strength and stability for our team of Radiation Therapists (RTs) and wider oncology service.
This is a great leadership opportunity, with the ability to make this role your own. We are searching for that special RT who is looking to join us and make an exciting step in their career.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Ensure that radiation therapist orientation, education and training is well managed and co-ordinated to facilitate good radiation therapy clinical practice.
- Supports the Radiation Therapist Clinical Tutor and Radiation Therapist Quality Research and Development.
- Supports the training required for technology implementation and develops standardised training and assessment procedures in consultation with appropriate stakeholders for each clinical area.
- Develops career pathways, opportunities for role expansion and advanced practitioner opportunities in conjunction with Radiation Therapist Team Leader.
- Contribute to the development of the service by showing leadership and initiative.
- Maintain a high level of patient care involving communication and collaboration with the patient, whanau, and other health professionals.
- Provide clinical support across the service as required.
The Waikato Regional Cancer Centre is located in the city of Hamilton, New Zealand. This unit serves a population of approximately 850,000 and has approximately 120 staff. We are comprised of an Oncology Department (which includes Radiation Therapy and Chemotherapy outpatient treatment areas), an Inpatient Ward, Palliative Care Service and a Haematology Outpatient Department.
Our RT department centre is an all Varian environment (TrueBeam, Halcyon with Hypersight, Bravos) and delivers advanced treatment techniques, including SABR, IGRT and HyperArc SRT.
Minimum requirements include:
- Wide range of advanced radiation therapy knowledge gathered over at least five years practicing as a radiation therapist.
- Proven leadership, self-awareness and maturity when dealing with complex situations.
- High level of emotional intelligence and ability to connect and communicate knowledge with people.
- Perform well under pressure and able to problem solve independently.
- Registration and current practising certificate (without restrictions) as a Radiation Therapist with the New Zealand MRTB.
- Post Graduate qualification in RT, Education or related field.
