Clinic Nurse, RN/LPN St Rose Medical Pavilion
Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Ambulatory Clinic RN - GB has the authority, responsibility, and shift accountability for the delivery of nursing care using the nursing process. This position accepts accountability, applies competent clinical knowledge and uses independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by health care providers to whom care is delegated to achieve quality patient care outcomes. The Ambulatory Clinic RN - GB also must possess the ability to assess and interpret patient data needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs.
Great Bend: Family Medicine
Provides professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and policies.
Responsibilities:
- Provides direct patient care within the ambulatory setting, based on the nursing process and within role/scope of practice.
- Performs preliminary assessment of patients through observation and chart review to facilitate appropriate follow-up with the healthcare team.
- Evaluates unstable or complex patient care situations and facilitates appropriate intervention.
- Implements appropriate clinical decisions and demonstrates appropriate use of expert peers and/or management as applicable.
- Accepts accountability and uses independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by healthcare providers to whom care is delegated.
- Demonstrates the appropriate use of standards, effective use of resources and evaluation of patient response in the delivery of patient care.
- Identifies teaching/learning needs of patients.
- Responsible for educational instruction to patients and families with health care needs.
- Evaluates effectiveness of patient and family teaching and makes documentation in patient’s charts.
- Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls.
- Completes necessary forms (i.e. FMLA, DME, Home Health orders) and obtains physicians' signatures as appropriate.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Required:
- Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS Certification
- Registered Nurse in State of Kansas
- Basic typing and word processing ability required
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)
HIPAA: This position will have access to the following Protected Health Information in order to carry out the duties related to their position based on the following criteria:
Primary - required (routine) to do the job;
Secondary - required for the job, but mostly be exception; and
None - no approved access
Description of Information Level
Primary:
- Patient Demographic Information (information used to identify a person): Name, Date of Birth, Address, Race, Marital Status, Religion
- Clinical Information (information that describes a patient's health status): Diagnosis, Reports/Medical Notes, Test Results, Problem List, Procedures, History and Physical
- Coding Information (clinical information that is in (alpha) numeric format): ICD-9 Codes, Rev Codes, CPT Codes
Secondary:
- Financial Information/Insurance (information related to insurance, billing and payment): Billing Information, Payer Name, Payer ID, Account Balances, Plan Elements Covered, Payment Information, Payment Rates
Infection Control:
Initial and ongoing training in dealing with infection control. Trainings could include but are not limited to, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids and biohazardous materials as it applies to your daily work environment.
Education/Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; prior experience in specialty field preferred; knowledge of general nursing theory and practice required. BSN required or must obtain within 4 years of employment.
Certificates and Licenses: Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Kansas or has work permit from the State Board of Nursing; specialty certification preferred; BLS certification required or must complete BLS certification within the first two weeks of employment.
