Job Description: Under the direction of physicians, the Physician Assistant (PA) provides health care and performs selective medical services.
Job Duties:
- Competently assesses, diagnoses and treats patients.
- Assists physicians by maximizing patient volume, monitoring and contacting high risk patients, returning patient calls in a timely manner, and providing follow up on diagnostic test results.
- Develops with the patient and/or caregivers, a mutually acceptable cost-aware plan of care that maximizes health potential.
- Formulates a treatment plan which includes ordering diagnostic tests, selecting appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, develops a patient education plan, and obtains appropriate consultation or referral.
- Consults with physician appropriately regarding patient care issues and concerns.
- Demonstrates productivity and initiative by organizing patient care, delegating to appropriate staff, prioritizing workload and seeking opportunities to improve clinical processes and staff/patient education.
- Demonstrates professionalism by articulating and demonstrating professional behavior, accepting responsibility and accountability for actions, adhering to policies and procedures, demonstrating leadership and supporting Meritas initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited physician assistant program.
- Licensed by the State of Missouri as a Physician Assistant.
- 2 years experience as PA in clinic specialty, strongly preferred.
- PA-C from NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association).
- ACLS (Advance Cardiac Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association).
- Proficiency with electronic health records and database management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
