The Charge Nurse contributes to the company’s mission and supports the company’s values by providing safe, effective patient care during both the pre and post-operative period, in accordance with applicable standards of practice while also coordinating, assigning and guiding the work activities of the RN staff. The Charge Nurse monitors work schedules, maintains department scheduling guidelines, and leads nursing practice oversight while managing their individual patient caseload. The Charge Nurse will be responsible for monitoring vitals and providing discharge information and reports as necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide quality nursing care before, during and immediately after procedures.
- Foster continuity and quality of care with the best interest and well-being of patients and their families in mind.
- Recognize and act on emergency care needs in the event of respiratory and/or cardiac occurrences.
- Report emergencies, unusual occurrences, and/or problems to the Operations Manager, or Lead RN.
- Assist the Operations Manager in leading day to day operation and coordination of patient care.
- Establish appropriate RN goals and strategies for meeting effective patient care.
- Work in conjunction with the Operations Manager to improve patient, provider and staff satisfaction.
- Analyze clinical practice and identify opportunities to increase quality, safety, effectiveness and efficiency.
- Identify clinical indicators to measure, evaluate and improve care.
- Assist the Operations Manager in the recruitment, retention and performance of RN staff.
- Monitor RN license and certification expiration dates.
- Work with the Operations Manager to develop and implement policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with current CO RN license.
- BLS certification required.
- ACLS certification required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a GI lab, Surgery Center or Critical Care setting highly preferred.
- Pre-Op and/or PACU experience is helpful.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, electronic health systems and databases, such as EPIC, required.
- Knowledge of GCP, federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA policies and procedures.
