DIRECT SUPPORT STAFF, FLEXIBLE PART-TIME HOURS

Easygoing thirty-nine-year-old developmentally disabled man needs your assistance in living his best independent life. Expectations are that you patiently and professionally support this individual in his daily living activities, including assisting with grocery shopping, helping him with light housework, and providing support and guidance in community activities, such as Special Olympics weekly bowling and self-advocacy groups. Requires that you provide transportation for various activities. Candidate should love dogs since this person has a small therapy dog that is an important part of his life.
The position requires six to ten scheduled hours per week, may include days, evenings or weekends. Pay is $19.80/hour, plus mileage reimbursement. Hours may be adjusted to meet your school schedule. Must be dependable since the client will be relying on you for important daily assistance.
The position requires a high school diploma. One year experience and/or college education in the field of developmental services and/or completion of the College of Direct Support is preferred; however, training will be available for candidates meeting other criteria. The ability to maintain confidentiality and provide timely and accurate documentation is also required.
Key Qualifications:
- Enjoy working with and assisting people with daily tasks.
- Prior work or personal experience with developmentally disabled individuals.
- Access to reliable transportation and adequate car insurance.
- Ability to work together with the client to complete organizational tasks.
- Ability to carry out individual service goals and communication goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Transportation and support during community activities.
- Documentation of services. Strong written communication skills.
- Consistent contact with Client Team, including Service Coordinator, and Family Members.
