Position Description:
The St. David’s School of Nursing at Texas State University seeks a dynamic, innovative educator interested in a faculty position in a rapidly evolving environment. Candidates should be passionate about working with students, have a reputation for collegial interactions, and be committed to teaching, scholarship, and service. The role involves preparing Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners who are caring practitioners, patient advocates, and visionary leaders.
The nine-month clinical track appointment, with summer employment likely, reports to the Director, St. David’s School of Nursing on the Texas State University’s Round Rock Campus. The School of Nursing is one of eight academic programs in the College of Health Professions.
The responsibilities include participation in teaching, simulation, curriculum development, and maintenance of program and accreditation standards. Faculty are expected to engage in scholarly activities, as well as academic service to the school, college, and university. Rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications. This position is subject to the availability of funds.
Required Qualifications:
- Earned PMH-NP Master of Science degree in nursing from an accredited University.
- National Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
- Eligible for RN and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in Texas.
- Demonstrated clinical competence as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (minimum two years of full-time current practice experience).
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning consistent with the program vision, mission, and goals as evidenced by a presentation during the campus visit with faculty.
For the rank of Clinical Associate Professor, in addition to those required above:
- A demonstrated record of accomplishments or activities in scholarship, teaching, and service.
- A minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience at the university level.
- Demonstrated strong collegial relationships.
For the rank of Clinical Professor, in addition to those required above:
- A demonstrated record of significant contributions in teaching, scholarship, and service, supporting advanced expertise and leadership in the chosen clinical field and academic area.
- A minimum of 10 years of full-time teaching experience at the university level.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in nursing or similar healthcare field or enrolled in a doctoral nursing program with an earned bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing.
- Teaching experience utilizing distance education modalities, including online instruction.
- Teaching experience with simulation or virtual education.
- Demonstrated collegial leadership and team development.
- Experience in building and promoting community relationships and partnerships in clinical or academic settings.
- Experience in higher education including accreditation, program development, assessment, and curriculum design.
The selected candidate will be required to submit official transcripts from all degree-granting universities.
