POSITION SUMMARY:
The RN Hospice Regional Director is responsible for maintaining quality of clinical services, including overall day-to-day branch operations. Responsible for implementing the delivery of quality patient care. The Regional Director has responsibility and authority for maintaining quality patient care, in accordance with the organization’s objectives and policies, through planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating the service.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of RN Hospice Regional Director:
- Facilitates and coordinates all hospice services.
- Provide leadership, oversee clinical responsibility of professional and paraprofessional personnel.
- Maintains clinical skills and current working knowledge of hospice regulations.
- Complies with accepted ethical conduct and professional standards of nursing practice as set forth by American Nursing Association, the Department of Public Health and other regulatory commissions.
- Responsible for oversight of the patient acceptance process.
- Responsible for recruitment, hiring, orientation, and evaluation of clinical and non-clinical team members in conjunction with the Department of People and Culture.
- Responsible for identifying Team Member development needs and assures continuing education is maintained.
- Performs Annual Evaluations and competencies on direct reports.
- Develops written goals based on individual and department needs as evidenced by the performance evaluation.
- Manages and evaluates services provided by Team Members through a variety of means such as home visits, conferences, record review, etc. Provides feedback to Team Members to enhance performance.
- Facilitates and conducts individual and interdisciplinary patient conferences to achieve therapeutic, restorative, health promotion, preventative, and rehabilitative goals for each patient.
- Demonstrates ability to identify and resolve interpersonal conflicts constructively when dealing with Team Members of the organization.
- Assists in developing programs to meet the needs of the community.
- Assesses staffing patterns according to patient and organization needs and collaborates with Executive Director to develop staffing plan.
- Coordinates with the OVNA Hospice management team to ensure adequate support and compliance with agency application usage policy and procedures.
- Participates in developing and revising organization policies and procedures and programs and educates Team Members to ensure implementation and follow through.
- Responsible for quality improvement initiatives, safety activities and HIPAA compliance.
- Acts as a regional resource, advocate and facilitator to maintain continuous compliance to meet all regulatory standards.
- Continuously approaches responsibilities with a positive attitude according to the standards of nursing practice.
- Assures medical record claims integrity and clinical claims oversight.
- Performs duties of a registered nurse and other duties as required.

- Direct Care Personnel
- Office / Clerical Team Members

QUALIFICATIONS of RN Hospice Regional Director:
- Registered nurse with current licensure to practice professional nursing in the State of Massachusetts.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
- Five to seven years of homecare clinical nursing experience.
- Is self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Possesses excellent coordination and communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primary work will be performed indoors in an office setting, may be exposed to the elements (heat, cold, rain, snow); walking and standing frequently; occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
