Summary of Job Duties:
This posting will be used to fill multiple positions. The Surgical Scrub Technician assembles supplies for surgical procedures in our Main Operating Room. They maintain the sterile field, pass surgical instruments, and assist in room preparation.
UAMS Main Operating Room is a 19 room suite, operational 24/7, and located on the 2nd floor of the Central Hospital. There are 10 endoscopic rooms, 2 laminar flow rooms, 2 DaVinci Robotic rooms and a dedicated endovascular room. It is a fast paced environment performing state of the art procedures with state of the art equipment.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED PLUS Graduate of accredited Scrub Technologist school/program OR surgical scrub tech training through the military.
- Ability to follow oral instruction, read, and write.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Patient care and/or healthcare related experience.
- Current Certification.
- One (1) or more years of previous experience as a Surgical Scrub Tech.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures that the room has been prepared for the upcoming cases, with appropriate equipment available and ready for use.
- Ensures that the instruments are cleaned arranged and transported to the soiled workroom according to department policy.
- Independently assists with instrument reprocessing tasks when assigned cases are completed and time permits.
- Ensures that the operating rooms are case-ready for the following day's cases.
- Exhibits practical knowledge of OR equipment including maintenance and safety aspects.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
