Job Summary:
This position is responsible for providing both primary and specialty medical services, accessing and administering medications within their scope of practice and according to state law.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Takes complex medical histories on patients referred for consultation by academic and community physicians.
- Performs physical examinations.
- Orders laboratory tests, x-rays, special imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Orders and supervises the administration of blood products.
- Reaches tentative diagnosis of medical, surgical, and other conditions.
- Develops treatment plans in conjunction with attending physician.
- Participates in continuing medical education.
- Assists in the collection of data for research projects.
- Orders consultations and interacts with other specialty medical teams.
- Participates in special projects and committee functions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
- Current licensure to practice as a Physician’s Assistant from the State of Utah.
- Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system, to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Preferred:
- Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements including immunizations according to CDC standards and hospital policy.
