Position Summary: The primary location of this position is the Cullowhee, NC campus. The Embedded College Specialist for the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) serves as the primary administrator for the technical and operational deployment and administration of various systems related to the work of the CAS. This position serves as a technical lead for incidents, service requests, change requests, and problems within CAS and collaborates with other Division of Information Technology (DoIT) staff to ensure seamless support for CAS faculty and staff. The position also provides primary consultation and business relationship management functions between the CAS, DoIT, and vendors.
The position works with a wide range of clientele within the CAS and partners with the CAS Dean to assess business objectives and help define users' needs. The position ensures technology is appropriately installed or configured and integrates with various technologies in classrooms and teaching labs to assist CAS with maintaining relevance and meeting accreditation needs related to technology and support standards. This position assists in communicating and translating DoIT security standards, DoIT policies, and best practices on behalf of the DoIT.
Additional responsibilities include working with other primary administrators on planning, implementation, and release roadmaps, exploring and planning future system uses, analysis of new features and rollouts, and general strategic planning in collaboration with the DoIT and the CAS. Position is regularly engaged in projects and professional development activities.
