Under the direction of the Summer Camp Director and keeping with the goals and mission of YMCA Storer Camps, the CHO will provide health, safety, and general medical services in accordance with camp standing orders. They will maintain records, dispense medication, and respond to emergencies.
A CHO may be a Registered Nurse (R.N.), Licensed Practical Nurse (L.P.N.), Emergency Medical Technician (E.M.T.), or meet the State of Michigan and American Camping Association requirements. These requirements include Advanced First Aid, Professional Rescuer CPR for adult, child and infant, and AED (training provided). The CHO must be committed to the mission of the YMCA. He/she must have excellent judgment, communication and organizational skills, confidence, and willingness to interact in a positive manner with campers, coworkers, and guests, flexibility, and patience. He/she must be a service-oriented problem solver.
