Inova Mt. Vernon's Inpatient Rehabilitation Program is seeking a PRN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST to provide care to a diverse adult population. We specialize in stroke and brain injury as well as spinal cord injury, cardiopulmonary debility, post-operative orthopedic care, oncology, multi-trauma, etc. Inova is invested in evidenced based practices and the use of equipment and technology to support our patients’ advancement towards their functional goals including, but not limited to: XCite multi-channel FES, Bioness FMES, Bioness Integrated Technology System (BITS), Driving simulator, ReoGo Robotic Arm, Mobile Arm Support systems, Zero-G suspended gait trainor, NeuroCom Balance System, etc. 2 WEEKEND SHIFTS A MONTH!
As an Occupational Therapist – pro re nata (PRN) Weekday, you will adhere to department policy regarding time frame, form and content of written evaluations, progress notes and discharge summaries. To help achieve our mission, you will communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts. Completing all administrative tasks and other responsibilities in support of the operating unit is expected. Demonstrating essential skill competencies in the use of treatment modalities, equipment and protocols is of vital importance. Your ability to perform re-evaluations according to department guidelines, while adjusting the treatment plan, is required.
Schedule: Minimum of two shifts a month, more available if interested.
Job Responsibilities:
- Documents the results of the evaluation clearly and completely, including all essential elements, according to department policy.
- Maintains department/clinic productivity standards and makes efficient use of non-billable time while minimizing use of non-billable time.
- Selects evaluation and treatment methods appropriate to the diagnosis, age group and physical/emotional status of patients and formulates appropriate treatment plans.
- Completes discharge notes that include a summary of the course of treatment, progress toward goals, discharge needs, recommendations for follow-up and patient and/or family education.
- Applies knowledge of therapeutic techniques during the evaluation and throughout the course of treatment while adjusting the treatment plan regularly and appropriately as patient status changes.
- Completes daily progress notes that reflect patients' responses to treatment, actual performance and an assessment as to their status relevant to the treatment plan along with eventual discharge needs and treatment summaries if needed.
Requirements:
New graduate Occupational Therapy eligible. One year of experience in Inpatient Rehab preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science, Occupational Therapy. Master’s Degree Preferred
Certification:
- BLS certified through the American Heart Association.
Licensure: Virginia License required upon start
