Principal Function: The Physician Assistant is responsible for providing primary health care and education to WCCH patients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Performs physical examination, diagnosis, and management of illness in conjunction with a Physician.
- Performs physicals, sexually transmitted disease (STD) exams, breast exams, and pelvic exams, monitoring changes and maintaining accurate files.
- Reviews diagnostic procedures and lab tests including entering lab results, STD, and Pap Smear results into a computer and notifies patients of results, as required.
- Reviews x-ray and laboratory findings.
- Consults with office staff and other health care professionals regarding patient care.
- Educates patients on health maintenance and disease prevention.
- Addresses and documents completion of required performance measures to include patient education, appropriate testing, and review of patient history and treatment.
- Assists in developing short-term and long-term health care goals and objectives, policies and procedures, and the plans and programs directed toward their achievement.
- Assists in implementing a comprehensive health education program, including the development of health education materials for patients.
- Serves on-call for emergencies on a rotational basis.
