Registered Nurse - High-Risk OB/GYN
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced High-Risk OB/GYN Registered Nurse to join our team. RN will provide specialized care to women with high-risk pregnancies, working closely with clinicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive prenatal, perinatal, and postpartum care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in OB/GYN nursing, excellent communication skills, and a deep commitment to improving maternal and infant health outcomes in underserved communities.
Essential Functions:
- Provide direct patient care to women with high-risk pregnancies, including prenatal, perinatal, and postpartum care, in collaboration with OB/GYN physicians and healthcare teams.
- Monitor and assess the health of pregnant patients, identifying complications or risk factors that may require specialized intervention or referral.
- Educate patients on prenatal care, pregnancy health, childbirth, and postpartum care, tailoring information to their specific needs and cultural background.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans for high-risk OB patients, ensuring timely follow-up and coordination with other healthcare providers.
- Assist with diagnostic tests, including ultrasounds, non-stress tests, and other monitoring procedures to track fetal health and pregnancy progress.
- Administer medications, treatments, and prenatal supplements as prescribed, while ensuring patients understand proper usage and potential side effects.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients, addressing concerns about pregnancy, labor, delivery, and newborn care.
- Document patient care, assessments, and interventions in the electronic health record (EHR) in compliance with clinical protocols and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with case managers, social workers, and community resources to address social determinants of health and ensure comprehensive care for patients with complex needs.
- Participate in health education programs and prenatal classes aimed at promoting healthy pregnancies, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in high-risk obstetrics and gynecology through continuing education and professional development.
Minimum Requirements
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in OB/GYN nursing, with a focus on high-risk pregnancies required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications required.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to identify and respond to complications in high-risk pregnancies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to patient-centered care and health equity.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and ability to accurately document patient care
Preferred
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Certification.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
- Bilingual in Spanish or another language spoken by the patient population is a plus.
- Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or community health setting is highly desirable
