About our Psychiatric Physician Assistant:
The Physician Assistant will conduct psychiatric and detoxification evaluations, provide a dual diagnosis, prescribe medication for patients with mental health diagnosis, provide and prescribe detoxification protocols depending on substance use, and attend clinical team meetings once per week. The role also includes developing an appropriate, integrated healthcare treatment plan and providing effective management of patient care with proper evaluation and follow-up care.
What a Psychiatric PA Does at PNS:
- Plan, organize, and provide ongoing medication management and therapy for new and existing patients.
- Assures that appropriate protocols for continuous improvement are established in mental health and addiction services and monitors ongoing compliance with quality assurance standards for mental health and substance use for both inpatient and outpatient care.
- Renewing and refilling medication to the best of their ability to avoid lapses in treatment.
- Educate the patient in understanding the disease process with guidance regarding preventative practices necessary to manage acute and chronic conditions.
- Work closely and maintain transparent communication with the treatment center, their clinical team, and the PNS team.
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:
- Must hold a current and valid license to practice in the State of California and hold an NPI.
- Must have full prescription authority and maintain current D.E.A. licensure.
- Willing to complete training to be in compliance with prescribing regulations.
- Prefer but not required at least two (2) years' experience in a Behavioral Health and/or Chemical Dependency setting or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Current BLS and ALC certification.
- Current Mantoux skin test, within less than 1 year.
- COVID-19 attestation or proof of complete vaccination.
- Willing to travel to San Jose, CA and Fresno, CA and other program sites.
- Must be able to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours.
- Ability to take general direction, work independently and within a team.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of clients, staff, and community members.

We are hiring in Fresno, CA in one of our contracted Rehabilitation centers.
