Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
We're looking to hire someone for our Strategic Product Group Leader position for our Retail Checkout products (CKO). There are numerous retailers seeking to automate the checkout areas of their stores, by reverting to e.g., unmanned self-checkout stations or self-scanning (smartphone based) solutions. You'll be responsible for driving this portfolio. You will provide product management services and define global product management strategies for this product line that directly leads to the growth of the overall business in this area, up to and including:
- Development, planning, prioritization, and execution of CKO product strategy, product roadmap, growth initiatives, regional pricing, product development, marketing requirements, and opportunity analysis.
- Project management with local and international teams for both product development and special initiatives. Develop overall project plan and effectively communicate same to stakeholders and management through reporting on the status of project deliverables according to METTLER TOLEDO Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) guidelines. Estimate necessary project resources needed to accomplish project goals. Facilitate clarification of unclear requirements, develop, and own the project risk management plan, delegate tasks and responsibilities within the team, identify and resolve resource conflicts and shortages and proactively manage changes in project scope.
- People management for the product managers of the global CKO team.
- Product sales support to METTLER TOLEDO Marketing Organizations; development of selling tools, sales support materials, delivering subject matter expertise and presentations at customer meetings; key project application support; identification and nurturing of strategic partners in support of product strategies; demo equipment.
- Support for key accounts and bids.
- Implementation and management of CKO product launch activities (with supporting materials) of future products and associated application software; introduction activities including logistics, sales, training, and service aspects; involvement in quality related activities such as beta testing, product audits and defect analysis/ tracking.
- Coordinating and maintaining business relationships with external resources, e.g. producing technical documentation supporting CKO. Business development with key scanner partners.
- Assist in the implementation of phase-in and phase-out activities associated with new products or enhancements/upgrades, execution with the appropriate PO's and MO's.
- Operational activities include management reporting, sales forecasting, inventory management, expense control and support/updating of PDS and Retail Wiki/SharePoint sites.
What You Need to Succeed
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of two years of product marketing or support experience of technical products, preferably with related technologies within retail environments; this should include related support and development activities.
- Experience with new product launch activities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong presentation abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to lead and participate in diverse (size, geographic, cultural, and disciplinary) team environments, including working with teams in Europe and Asia.
- Strong analytical abilities.
