PositionSummary:
Provides professional nursing care within an outpatient clinic setting and coordinates care planning with other disciplines as appropriate.

Responsibilities
- Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program and safety standards.
- Precepts new employees/students as needed. Reviews clinical performance of preceptee with office manager or clinical instructor/supervisor.
- Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives and infection control policies.
- Prepares patients for scheduled procedures and assists in patient assessment. Accurately records history and performs basic triage procedures per policy.
- After retrieving condition of patients, creates nursing history and discusses recommendations for appropriate interventions to appropriate practitioner.
- Clinical expertise and knowledge is such that individual can resolve complex patient/management/physician problems without direct supervision.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy by using the AIDET fundamentals of communication.
- Assists providers with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families during their visit.
- Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
- Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and well-maintained equipment.
- Inspects area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur.
- Schedules all outside patient appointments per physician order and relays accurately to patients.
- Take calls from hospitals/nursing homes and relays appropriate information to practitioner in a timely manner.
- Assure test results are received and relayed to the patient in a timely manner.
- Completes medical orientation checklist.
- Initiates appropriate patient education.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.
- Implements care appropriate to diagnosis and per physician order.
- Problem solves and coordinates clinic patient care with physician supervision.
- Demonstrates competence in performing skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
- Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- Collaborate with the patient, physician and other care team members as part of a team based approach to overall patient care.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of professional nursing experience.
Licensure Requirement:
Must have a valid Tennessee RN license. CPR, OSHA training annually
