Our client, a 100+ bed healthcare facility located within 2 hrs of Great Smoky Mountains area of TN, within an hour of Knoxville and Chattanooga, has a need for a Night shift L&D RN to join their team. These are 12 hr shifts. This is a fairly small unit. They deliver around 25 babies a month.
They are offering a $20,000 sign on bonus!
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to: Director of Women's and Children's Services
- Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition. Establishes a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient according to his or her capabilities and desires.
- Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
- Documents patient care given.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Minimum Education
- Associate’s degree in Nursing Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Preferred
Required Licenses
- Tennessee, United States Registered Nurse
- RN License in the State of TN or another compact state
Required Skills/Certifications:
The below certifications will be required at the time of hire:
The below certifications will be required within 6 months of hire or when transferring into a new department with these certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)
- Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN - Intermediate Fetal Monitoring)
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Must achieve a passing score of 85% on the Medication Administration Exam.
