GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Work as part of a team of experienced quality control technicians in a fast-paced environment. The primary responsibility will be to test a large range of pigments in various applications. The position reports to the Laboratory Supervisor.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Perform quality control testing on incoming samples using proper testing procedures established for each product
- Prepare test vehicles for testing as needed
- Time management and attention to detail is essential. Fast paced environment requires several samples to be tested simultaneously.
- Flexibility to changing priorities due to business demand.
- Careful attention to written test procedures is critical to ensure testing is performed with accuracy, eliminating the need for retesting. Reliability of results obtained is critical
- Review results obtained for anomalies prior to submitting completed test results to laboratory manager
- Maintain lab supplies by inventorying stock, submit order to laboratory supervisor, and verify receipt of goods upon delivery from outside vendors
- Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments by following manufacturer's operating instructions-troubleshoot breakdowns-notify laboratory supervisor if outside repairs are necessary
- Responsible for daily calibration of instruments
- Maintain calibration standard supplies
- Participate in restocking of shelves of daily supplies
- Notify laboratory manager when the removal of waste drums needs to be scheduled
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness
- Maintain a safe environment, report discrepancies/hazards to laboratory manager
- Must be able to relate well with fellow laboratory employees. All employees must be treated with dignity and respect.
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- AAS degree or higher - equivalent work experience in pigments
- Excellent record keeping skills
- Good communication skills
- Basic math skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work with and support colleagues
- Knowledge of two-roll mill and injection molding machines used for plastics, preferred
- Water and solvent based testing for both inks and coatings, preferred
- Knowledge of spectrophotometer, quality systems, procedures, work instructions and test methods, preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS
Please note that this is a day shift position (Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm)
