DescriptionJOB SUMMARY
The Ultrasound Technologist or Sonographer performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures and exams under the supervision of the Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician for diagnosis and treatment of high-risk OB patients.
The technologist must prepare and direct patients for examination, perform diagnostic procedures to ensure the delivery of quality care, participate in quality control procedures, maintain professional development and education, maintain a clean and safe work environment, contribute to the efficient operation of the department, maintain patient confidentiality, and provide excellent customer service. This involves treating every patient with respect and courtesy, and explaining the exam to the patient. The technologist must be able to work together with others to provide a positive work environment. Additionally, the technologist is responsible for providing a safe environment for patients, fellow employees, and themselves.
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of an accredited ultrasound school (Required)
- Registered in OB/GYN from ARDMS
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 1-2 years OB scanning (Required)
- Detailed fetal anatomy scan (Required)
- Transvaginal ultrasound (Required)
- Fetal Echoes (Preferred)
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES
- Required Certifications/Licensures: Basic Life Support (BLS), and Certified Sonography (S)(ARRT) OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
