Position: Speech Pathologist - Inpatient Speech Therapy
Job Type: Full-time | Day Shift
JOB SUMMARY
- Provide therapy for patients who demonstrate deficits with feeding/swallowing and communication disorders.
- Provide instruction/supervision of student interns.
- Use equipment/technology to achieve the best outcomes.
- Document all treatment sessions per department procedure after each encounter.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
- Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization.
- Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).
- Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
- Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
- Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License and meet auto insurability requirements as approved by Phoebe Putney Health System's insurance company.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.
- May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms.
- May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
- Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
- May be scheduled as needed including overtime.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology (Required)
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 2 - 3 years Diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of typical disorders including articulation, language, voice and fluency (Preferred).
- 2 - 3 years Knowledge of developmental norms, language acquisition, and early intervention (Preferred).
- 2 - 3 years Experience with a range of ages including neonates-geriatrics (Preferred).
- 2 - 3 years Behavioral management (Preferred).
- 2 - 3 years Patient/caregiver counseling (Preferred).
- Will consider CFY position.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES
- Required Certifications/Licensures: Speech Language Pathology (SLP), Basic Life Support (BLS), American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology with current Georgia License.
