Summary:
The X-Ray/CT Technologist is responsible for coordinating the patient flow to obtain requested imaging studies in a fast-paced environment. This is achieved through order verification, Quality Assurance of the imaging equipment, proper patient identification and obtaining appropriate imaging following approved policies and protocols. This is to include proper patient preparation and education which may begin prior to the patient arrival. The technologist may be involved in part of a procedural team. The technologist will treat patients of all age groups which includes infancy, pediatrics, adults and geriatrics. The technologist must be knowledgeable of age specific protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Performs CT scan procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and procedures within standard time frames.
- Maintains equipment in good operating condition and operates equipment according to department and manufacturer's recommendations.
- Prepares and orients patients to the procedures.
- Is cooperative and helpful in a clear and courteous manner to co-workers, staff, patients and visitors.
- Maintains and exhibits a current knowledge of CT scan technology and participates in continuing education.
- Performs radiologic procedures in accordance with departmental protocols when not assigned to CT scan duties.
- Keeps current on issues with radiation safety does and patient care.
Other Information:
Licensed as Radiologic Technologist Required.
