Summary:
The Radiographer performs radiologic examinations in accordance with all state/federal safety regulations. The Radiographer is expected to perform a variety of procedures with the knowledge and ability to apply prescribed amount of radiation for the purpose of obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by the radiologist.
Responsibilities:
- Performs radiographic, fluoroscopic, and utilizing equipment in accordance with department protocols. Performs all duties in a timely manner with minimum waste of supplies, materials, and time.
- Acts as resource to all patients, physicians, and staff in a polite manner – referring to another resource when necessary.
- Prepares and/or administers contrast material.
- Takes call (within 20 minutes from Mayo or onsite) as required by departmental needs.
- Schedule Imaging exams as needed.
- Complete charges and other clerical duties as required by shift.
- Learn PACS and assist providers as needed.
- Maintains equipment in good working operating condition and operates equipment according to department and manufacturing recommendation.
- Prepares and orients patients to the procedures and provides patient education.
- Communicates necessary information to the radiologist for exam interpretation.
- Provides assistance in continuous quality improvement.
- Follows established safety methods and procedures in accordance with the department policies and documenting exam exposure factor.
- Ability to work independently.
- Maintains department according to procedures.
- Assists other Mayo departments in duties as requested and in accordance with Radiology scope of practice.
- Maintain a safe environment which includes knowing and understanding hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Report and directly address identified environmental hazards when appropriate.
- Report and directly address violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
- Other duties as requested by Director.
Other Information:
Licensed as Radiologic Technologist Required.

- Required associate's degree
