Opportunity
The Employee Health & Infection Prevention Nurse provides essential services, including vaccinations, boosters, fit-testing, exposure management, confidential records tracking, data reporting and compliance with federal, state and local regulations and organizational policies, to the employees, providers and volunteers at Mosaic Community Health. Additionally, as the health center’s infection preventionist, develops, implements, and monitors policies, procedures, and trainings to ensure compliance with infection prevention and control best practices, to ensure safe work environments for staff, and safe care environments for our patients and their guests.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all activities in Employee Health Services.
- Provide essential services and clinical care to employees, physicians and volunteers that is based on policies, protocols and guidelines. Evaluate employee reports of injury with timely processing. Refer to Occupational Health provider according to protocol.
- Investigate organization accidents and maintain statistics of injuries and observe outcomes.
- Maintain knowledge of current trends of employee health, changes in regulations, legal issues, and nursing serviced policies and procedures. Communicate this information to management as appropriate.
- Develop and revise employee health policies and procedures. Plan, implement and conduct new hire and annual vaccination programs as guided by OSHA, CDC, and other regulatory agencies.
- Plan, implement and conduct new hire, annual trainings, and ad hoc trainings on occupational health and safety topics as guided by OSHA, CDC, and other regulatory agencies.
- Order appropriate testing and administer immunizations for new staff and current staff, including for provider credentialing.
- Establish and implement infection control and employee health orientation programs, alongside the departmental leadership, throughout the facility.
- Complete Risk Assessments for organization, including but not limited to annual TB risk assessment and potential exposure risk assessments.
- Conduct annual sharps analysis and coordinate information with the value analysis committee to support catalog management.
- Monitor use of germicides, cleaning products, antiseptics, and disinfectants in use throughout the facility. Coordinate approved products through the value analysis committee to support catalog management.
Skills & Knowledge
Good Leadership skills and education and training skills. Knowledge of VFC stewardship requirements and Alert regulations. Knowledge of OSHA and safety best practices, rules (laws), and regulations. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, collaborative, and strong communication skills. Experience working on computers with windows-based programs; typing/keyboarding speed of at least 40 WPM. Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and practice. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations. Knowledge of standard office machines including copier, fax, shredder, multi-line telephone, printers, virtual conferencing systems, scanners, etc. Knowledge of standard office policies and procedures. EHR experience, EPIC experience a plus.

Experience
Required: Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in healthcare required. Employee Health and/or Infection prevention experience preferred.
