Join Central Maine Healthcare for an outstanding opportunity as Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with Cardiac Electrophysiology. The electrophysiology NP/PA will function as a member of the electrophysiology team at Central Maine Healthcare providing inpatient and outpatient services. This individual will be responsible for providing the following services:
- Outpatient follow-up for patients who have undergone cardioversion, endocardial ablation, CIED implant (including device interrogation and review of remote transmissions), and cardiac diagnostics including cardiac monitoring, echocardiography, and cardiac stress testing.
- Outpatient follow-up for monitoring for patients with cardiac rhythm problems on antiarrhythmic and rate control medications and oral anticoagulation.
- Inpatient evaluation and follow-up of patients with various cardiac rhythm problems including facilitation of work-up and therapeutic procedures including CIEDs and catheter ablation procedures as well as antiarrhythmic drug loading.
Standards of Practice and Performance
- Assumes major responsibility for the direct care of patients in the inpatient/outpatient setting as outlined in the job description and in collaboration with Electrophysiology attending physicians and other Electrophysiology advanced practice providers and RNs as well as the other cardiology teams at CMMC.
- Provides timely initial assessment, diagnostic evaluation, management, and follow-up of electrophysiology patients as appropriate to the specific job task and using appropriate clinical practice guidelines.
- Provides patient and/or family-centered care by including the patient and/or family in health care decision making, providing health education, counseling, and referrals to other health care professionals and resources.
- Participates in conferences and educational opportunities within CMMC.
- Provides other duties as requested which are consistent with the advanced practice provider role.
Scope and Hours of Work
- Following an orientation and training period (which varies depending on background, previous training, and experience), the candidate will participate in the outpatient/inpatient responsibilities as detailed above.
- The candidate will work a full-time schedule and collaborate with attending physicians and other advanced practice providers to ensure coordination and continuity of care for electrophysiology patients across settings and over time.
Requirements/Minimum Qualifications
- Current and unencumbered Maine State Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant License with prescriptive authority.
- Master’s Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant Program.
- Certification by a national board certifying organization.
- Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in patient care.
- Training and/or experience in the provision of ambulatory and or inpatient care including initial and ongoing assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and management of patients with cardiac disease.
- Cardiology/Electrophysiology ARNP or PA experience preferred but not required.
