Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Physician Assistant- Full Time - Nights. In this role, the successful candidate will provide quality, professional, cost-effective health care to all patients at LICH. Physician assistants (PA) practice medicine under the supervision of a licensed physician, fulfilling a broad range of medical services. PAs provide care for in- and outpatients primarily in-house, including the Emergency Department, Pre-Admission Testing, the operating room, Employee Health, and Psych Care, including pediatrics.
Job Responsibilities:
- Introduce/identify self as a physician assistant
- Perform initial assessment/history and physical examination
- Order and interpret tests/results (lab, radiology, EKG, etc.) based on patient need
- Document care in accordance with Hospital policy & procedure
- Formulate and implement treatment plan
- Consult with physician when required based on patient's condition
- Reassess patients
- Order, apply, remove, and reapply restraints
- Provide emergency medical care including Code 64 management
- Triages patients in the ED
- Perform Trauma assessment/reassessment (Trauma Team only)
- Document all pertinent patient information following departmental and Hospital policies
- Document patient or family education
- Ensure all orders and entries are dated and timed
- Document results of tests ordered
- Complete procedure notes
- Document follow-up/consultation with physician
- Sign, date, and time verbal/telephone orders by end of shift
- Complete and submit billing forms
- Write and give discharge instructions in the ED
- Explain procedures to patients/families
- Perform procedures following accepted standards of care
- Assist in surgery (OR credentialed only)
- Perform CAT scan/MRI injections
- Demonstrate positive Service Excellence/customer satisfaction
- Work as a team member in a multidisciplinary manner
- Maintain knowledge of current trends and techniques in the field
- Participate in performance assessment and improvement studies
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of a PA program accredited by The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant. Current NCCPA certification. Current New York State license as Registered Physician Assistant. Current BLS & ACLS documentation. Current Pediatric Life Support (PALS). Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) documentation. Requires necessary psychomotor skills to perform examinations and procedures. The ability to recognize and address psychosocial needs of patients and their families. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for approximately seventy-five percent of work time. Ability to walk and stand for approximately seventy-five percent of work time, and to lift, pull, push, and/or carry items weighing up to twenty pounds.

The salary range for the role is $131,683.50 - $164,151.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on various factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
