Nurse Manager (Full-Time) - Highview in The Woodlands Campus
Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000/year, Depending on Experience and other factors
Reports to: Director of Nursing
Location: Highview in The Woodlands - Rockton, Illinois
Direct Reports: All nursing staff on campus
Summary: Responsible for managing staff, along with levels of care and services provided within the memory care and assisted living units of the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:
Leadership
- Member of the Nursing Management leadership team. Works collaboratively with the team to ensure success in meeting and exceeding community goals in operations, Human Resources, sales, and resident care.
- Responsible for oversight of the Resident Care/Nursing Staff, which includes hiring, training and development, counseling, performance evaluation, functional development, and disciplinary actions.
- Administers training of all staff on Resident Care policies and procedures.
- Follows and enforces policies and procedures. Incorporates standards/policies into all aspects of resident care training, programs, meetings, and initiatives.
- Responsible for protecting and advocating for resident rights.
- Implements community initiatives within the care venues.
- Advances employee relations strategies to build the right environment to increase employee engagement.
- Maintains gerontologic nursing competencies and increases personal growth and development through formal and informal education programs.
Operations
- Directs resident care and coordinates services given by other care providers.
- Manages practice so it is consistent with current standards promulgated by the company and appropriate local, state, and federal regulatory bodies.
- Establishes and sustains quality assessment/performance improvement activities.
- Manages emergencies based on the community’s safety and disaster policies.
- Participates in resident and family education and counseling.
- Responsible for the clinical record of each resident receiving care; ensures documentation in clinical record per policies and procedures.
- Completes and/or receives initial and ongoing assessments of residents for appropriate placement within the community.
- Facilitates teamwork within Resident Care between Resident Care and ancillary services to promote effective care delivery.
- Communicates with company-level resources regarding pertinent resident care issues and as needed.
- Works with residents, family members, and staff to ensure needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
- May perform CPR, use an Automated External Defibrillator, and render first aid in emergencies.
- Must possess knowledge of regulatory compliance and Retirement Community operations.
- Maintains a courteous and professional manner through interactions with others.
- Uses a resident and customer-focused approach to problem-solving, goal-setting, and management philosophy.
- Uses discretion in handling confidential information, incorporating all federal, state, and local privacy and confidentiality requirements.
- Must be sensitive to the needs of older adults and enjoy working with a senior population.
- Proficient human relations skills with experience in interviewing/selecting, evaluating, training, coaching, and motivating staff.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees in a team-oriented environment.
- Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office.
- Registered Nurse/LPN in good standing.
- Must possess and maintain an active and current license to practice in the State of Illinois.
- One to three years of leadership experience in a hospital, long-term care, or other healthcare-related facility.
- Must have good interpersonal relations with proven communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Previous experience in completing MDS and Care Plans is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have the ability to stand and walk for 4-5 hours of an 8-hour shift.
- Must have the ability to sit for 3-4 hours of an 8-hour shift.
- Must have the ability to occasionally stoop, bend, and kneel.
- Must have the ability to occasionally lift 75 to 100 pounds while bending at the waist and knees while assisting in resident transfers.
- Must have the ability to occasionally push, pull, or move medical carts, residents using lift systems, and residents in wheelchairs exerting a force of 40 to 100 pounds.
- Must have the ability to use wrists, fingers, and hands for repetitive firm grasping.
Working Conditions:
- Complies with “on-call” requirements as applicable.
- Available for Emergency calls.
- Manager on Duty if activated.
- Regular on-site physical presence is required.
- Reliable, predictable, and punctual attendance to provide effective management of staff, provide timely service to internal and external customers, and support uninterrupted business operations and continuous medical care to residents is required.
Other federally regulated requirements:
- Must be willing to undergo pre-employment background check, including (MVR) moving vehicle records.
- Must have or be willing to receive the Flu-Shot Vaccine and TB testing.
- Must be willing to undergo pre-employment drug screening, including cannabis.
- Must be willing to undergo biometric screening.
