The Perioperative Clinical Coordinator, together with the Director/Manager, works collaboratively with the leadership team to practice Fort HealthCare's mission and vision, coordinate day-to-day operations, be a direct resource to staff, enhance the clinical practice environment, orient, and evaluate employees, and accomplish department and organizational strategic goals. The Perioperative Clinical Coordinator collaborates with other disciplines in our care model to improve quality while utilizing evidence-based practice. The Perioperative Clinical Coordinator reports directly to the Perioperative Director and serves in a supervisory position to help motivate, mentor, educate, guide, and develop Perioperative Services employees.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Responsible for nursing research and the conceptualization of the professional nurse as a life-long learner. Participates in professional development and training with employees on policies, procedures, equipment, and nursing theory.
- Offers assistance and guidance in challenging situations occurring within the department and facility. Addresses staffing ratios on an on-going basis. Assists Director/Manager with budget forecasting and capital purchases.
- Responsible for managing Payroll timekeeping and attendance for the assigned departments.
- Collaborates with Department Director and Supply Chain Specialist on materials management for the assigned departments. Facilitates the loaner and company rep. process for the departments.
- Completes annual performance appraisals, orientation performance appraisals, and performance improvement plans. Ensure new employees receive a positive onboarding experience with ample direction, orientation, and feedback opportunities. Discusses with and guides employees in personal career development, professional goal development and performance improvement initiatives as directed by the Department Director/Manager. Holds employees accountable utilizing the Just Culture methodology. Provides individual and group recognition.
- Works with Manager in maintaining consistent standards of nursing care in the department and collaborates throughout the organization to ensure that the standards are consistent.
- Works with Director/Manager to review metrics and incorporate organizational goals and strategies for departmental success. Engages in patient experience and quality improvement initiatives. Leads in and actively supports healthy work environment projects and initiatives.
- Evaluates and investigates causative factors of Incident Reports and acts accordingly to address safety issues.
- Collaborates with physicians to address the needs of the patient and assists with physician-nurse and physician-patient relationships.
- Active member and participant of various committees and meetings. Actively supports and engages in Nursing Services Shared Governance projects and initiatives.
- Assists in maintaining compliance of all local, state, and federal regulatory guidelines, including The Joint Commission (TJC).
- Collaborates with and provides feedback to Manager on capital and operating expenses. Supports and engages in the department forecast/budgetary needs and opportunities for efficiency improvement.
- Assists with all nursing departments to maintain appropriate staff to volume based upon patient census and patient acuity.
- Shares department leadership responsibilities with the other Perioperative clinical coordinators, including the ability to function in the role of facilitator nurse, staff nurse, or on-call (if necessary).
- Completes department-specific orientation and annual competencies for this position.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements of this position include:
- Associates Degree required
- Minimum of 5 years of perioperative nursing experience
- Previous management experience in either the perioperative arena or critical care
- RN license to practice nursing in Wisconsin upon hire; maintains all required licenses, certifications or registrations required for this position
- One of the following certifications preferred: CNOR, CAPA, CPAN, CCRN, CGRN
