We are seeking a licensed compassionate and skilled Art Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will utilize creative expression to support clients in exploring their emotions, improving mental health, and fostering personal growth. You will work with diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and families, in a supportive and therapeutic environment.
The successful applicant will possess a solid grasp of child development and be adept at making age-appropriate observations and recommendations. Acknowledging that working with children is a specialized field, we require cultural competence and a deep appreciation for the nuances involved in this role. This position offers competitive compensation, clinical supervision towards licensure at no cost, and some free learning opportunities (CEUs). While we provide support, it is essential for you to independently research and apply relevant interventions to address the needs of your clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct individual and group art therapy sessions, tailoring approaches to meet the specific
- needs of clients.
- Assess client needs and develop personalized treatment plans incorporating artistic mediums.
- Facilitate a safe and welcoming space for clients to express themselves through art.
- Utilize various art materials and techniques to promote self-exploration and healing.
- Document client progress, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports as required.
- Collaborate with other mental health professionals and participate in multidisciplinary team
- meetings.
- Provide psycho-education to clients and their families about the therapeutic benefits of art.
- Stay informed about current research and trends in art therapy and mental health.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Art Therapy or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Relevant state licensure (Illinois/IL), and must be local to the Chicago or Chicagoland area.
- Experience working with diverse populations in a therapeutic setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine ability to connect with clients.
- Proficient in various art techniques and materials, with a passion for creativity.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and evidence-based therapeutic practices.
- Experience in a clinical setting, such as schools, hospitals, or community organizations.
- Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and treatment modalities.
