Job Description
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at Chicago Medicine as an Occupational Therapist I (Registry).
The Occupational Therapist is consistent with the AOTA. Occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants are experts at analyzing the performance skills and patterns necessary for people to engage in their everyday activities in the contexts and environments in which those activities and occupations occur. The practice of occupational therapy includes methods or strategies selected to direct the process of interventions and evaluation of factors affecting activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), education, work, play, leisure, and social participation.
Essential Job Functions
- The Occupational Therapist performs Occupational Therapy services and assessments to UCM patients upon referral from a licensed practitioner.
- The OTR/L practices in an assigned clinical division of the Therapy Services department.
- The environment is fast-paced, offering the opportunity to work with medically complex patients.
- These positions will provide clinical service with opportunities for program development, mentoring, and supervision of occupational therapy students.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Graduation from an approved program in Occupational Therapy.
- Minimum of Master’s degree required.
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care which is age-specific/appropriate for the types of patients served.
- Basic computer skills to allow access to operations and patient data.
- Appropriate interpersonal skills necessary to enable positive interactions with patients, families, team members, referral sources, and outside contacts.
- Requires graduation from an approved occupational therapy school.
- Requires current Occupational Therapy license in the State of Illinois.
- Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
