Registered Nurses **Expression of Interest** – North East of England and Yorkshire
Who are we?
Marie Curie is one of the UK’s most loved charities and the leader in end-of-life care and support. We’re fighting for a better end of life for all because we believe that every day of your life matters – from the first to the last.
We provide expert community nursing and hospice care and a wealth of information and support on all aspects of dying, death and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end of life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best experience possible at the end of their lives.
We believe that we can make a real difference to the lives of patients (and their families/most important people) through our values, purpose and the way that we deliver personalised care.
North East England and Yorkshire is where England’s true beauty shines – from historic York and Durham to culture-filled Newcastle and Leeds. The region has a diverse population of 8.5m in which Marie Curie has cultivated a strong track record of excellent services and workforce innovation.
The opportunity
Being a Registered Nurse at Marie Curie is incredibly rewarding on so many levels. For starters, in roles within our Hospices, we offer you high staffing ratios, which allow you to spend more time hands-on, not handing over. You’ll have the time, tools and teams to provide expert nursing care, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care needs of your patients in a palliative care setting.
A Registered nurse role in the community gives you the ability to be an autonomous practitioner in a patient’s own home environment, allowing you precious time to care for your patients and their loved ones.
Our Rapid Response and Reactive Registered Nurse roles use your skills and expertise in preventing unnecessary hospital admissions to allow the patient to be cared for in their own home.
You’ll work with friendly and diverse teams in the region, focused on a patient-centred approach and evidence-based practice to give people the very best end of life care.
You’ll also go beyond conventional nursing duties to provide patients and their loved ones with emotional and wellbeing support. Your advanced communication skills and ability to empathise with your patients and their loved ones is just as important to us as your clinical knowledge and expertise.
Are you ready to take your nursing career to a place where you can really make a difference?
As this is an expression of interest, we may not have any suitable vacancies at this time, however, we will keep in touch with any exciting updates and new opportunities as they become available.
How will I make a difference?
You know how important it is to be passionate about caring for patients at their end of life. It’s what drives you. As a Registered Nurse, with a valid NMC pin, you’ll be responsible for using evidence-based practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, working alongside a team of healthcare assistants to ensure appropriate clinical care is delivered. You’ll have the autonomy to drive quality care and innovate our approach and services where the opportunity arises.
We are passionate about continuous improvement and are looking for nurses who share this passion to work with us to ensure the people we serve, and our staff, are treated with respect and as individuals.
Highly trusted, you’ll have the time to form real connections with our patients, giving them the kindness, support, compassion and care they deserve.
The ability to communicate compassionately and effectively is essential as is a clearly demonstrable person-centred approach.
