Description
The Advanced Practice Provider Float works to support the mission and vision of Neighborhood Healthcare by providing excellent patient-centered care and services within a dynamic team environment. This role will provide direct healthcare services to patients under the direction and responsibility of Physicians in three main categories: direct patient care, team support, and clinical administration.
Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care
- Performs comprehensive physical examinations on patients, including review of patient medical data, such as health history.
- Orders, administers, and interprets test results for diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests.
- Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care, and managing infection.
- Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
- Impacts patient experiences by demonstrating courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracy.
- Assesses and provides age-appropriate care to patients.
Team Support
- Shares accountability for overall patient health outcomes, working in coordination with care teams.
- Operates to instill confidence in our care and in our facilities to patients, fellow employees, and other stakeholders.
- Responds promptly and with caring actions to patients and employees.
- Maintains professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients, and the public.
- Cooperates in accomplishing communicated department goals and objectives.
Clinical Administration
- Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care.
- Performs in accordance with NHC practice protocols and under the guidance and supervision of the supervising MD(s), according to the terms of the Supervisory Agreement.
- Keeps informed of organizational activities and promotes mission and goals.
- Functions at the highest level according to credentials and competency.
Education/Experience
- Master’s degree from an accredited physician assistant or nurse practitioner program required.
- Valid CA Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner certification required.
- Valid CA DEA license required.
- Valid BLS certification from approved American Health Association provider required upon hire.
Additional Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Knowledgeable about and experience with providing direct care to patients.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent planning and organizational ability.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
- Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift/carry 20 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Compliance (Safety & HIPAA)
- Follow all safety procedures as outlined in Neighborhood Healthcare’s Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP) and report any injuries and/or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices.
- Follow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
- Use appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury-free environment.
- Be familiar with the location of the nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits.
- Follow all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols.
- Maintain privacy of all patient, employee, and volunteer information and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes.
- Comply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations.
- Report all behavior and/or activity that are unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful.
Pay range: $147k to $199k per year, depending on experience (DOE).
Neighborhood Healthcare requires employees to be fully vaccinated (including a booster dose) against COVID-19 and demonstrate proof of vaccination/booster upon hire or receive approval for an exemption based on a medical reason, disability, or religious belief. Proof of booster dose will be contingent upon booster eligibility.
