Glenn Medical Center is a Critical Access Hospital located in Willows CA, in partnership with our physicians, will consistently strive to provide accessible, high quality care within the local community. Our focus is on improving the health and well-being of all individuals by offering inpatient, outpatient and rural health clinic services to the Glenn County community.
We are looking for a highly motivated, team player for our Family Care Clinic at Glenn Medical Center. We have a great group of providers and medical assistants that enjoy helping our community.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists physician and/or functions as a provider on a separate basis from the physician.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Medical supervision is provided by designated physician. Management supervision is provided by Director of Nursing/Nurse Executive or designee.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum requirements:
- Current ACLS certification preferred.
- Minimum of one year clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant is preferred.
- Current license/certification from the State of California indicates that the individual has met training requirements for the position.
- Knowledge of:
- Elements of physical assessment of adults and children.
- Family planning.
- Basics of caring for deviations from health.
- Community Resources.
- Ability to:
- Relate well with patients, families, and staff
- Make sound decisions in triaging patients.
- Provide basic first aid and minor emergency procedures.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATION: Minimum requirements:
- NP – Registered Nurse License and Nurse Practitioner certificate.
- PA – Physician’s Assistant license preferred, interim permit considered.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
In collaboration with supervising physician, duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Identify health status of patients by taking medical history, performing exam, and initiating and evaluating screening and diagnostic procedures.
- Provide services in accordance with Standard procedures.
- Determine which patient to refer to the physician for further diagnostics and treatment.
- Plan and assume responsibility with physician for ongoing health maintenance and clinical management of patients in stable phases of acute and chronic illnesses.
- Evaluate patient’s emotional behavior, counsel, and instruct individuals and families regarding domestic and health related problems.
- Initiate orders for diagnostic laboratory tests and x-rays. Interpret and review results. Review medication refills.
- Assure that adequate patient health records are maintained and transferred when required.
- Serve as clinical consultant to nursing and ancillary personnel.
- Coordinate work activities with families, community agencies, and other members of the health care team.
- Promote economies in service and lower patient costs whenever possible.
- Participate in development and annual review of policies and procedures. Participate in periodic medical records review.
- Provide “on-call” coverage as requested by the hospital.
- Perform other duties as assigned, i.e., jail, juvenile detention center visits, convalescent center visits, etc.
