Experienced Surgical Technologists are eligible for up to a $20,000 Sign-On Bonus with CVOR experience hired into a CVOR role!
$3,000 to $15,000 Sign-On Bonus for those without CVOR experience

New graduates and previous MMC and MaineHealth employees with more than 3 months of separation are eligible.
Current MMC and MaineHealth employees are not eligible.
Position Summary
The Operating Room Surgical Technologist Level II meets all of the criteria for Surgical Technologist Level I. The Level II Surgical Technologist works with considerable independence and self-direction in order to ensure all the necessary elements are in place for each surgical procedure. National certification must be continually maintained. Participates in the teaching of staff and students.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: N/A
- License/Certifications: Certification required within three months of employment or at the discretion of the Department Director.
- Experience: One year of surgical technology work experience is required at this level.
- Possesses knowledge of multiple types of equipment pertinent to the Surgical Technologist role including but not limited to: cell saver, laser, ultradrive, cusa, steris, autoclaves, cautery, laparoscopic video system, endoscopic tower.
- Possesses knowledge of contents of multiple specialty instrument trays for assigned service.
- Demonstrates the required knowledge and technical skills to perform core Operating Room procedures and specialty procedures in assigned services. Surgical procedures include but are not limited to: scheduled general, cardiac, neuro, pediatric, multiple trauma, GYN, GU, vascular, orthopedics, as well as common emergencies.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique and operating room standards and procedures, acquired through completion of a course in an approved school of Surgical Technology.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with others.
- Ability to stand continually for several hours, and to move, position, transport patients, stretchers, equipment, etc.
- Ability to concentrate on detail and adjust quickly to changes of assignment.
