STV’s Transportation group is seeking a Senior Water Resources/H&H Engineer to join our team in either Chattanooga or Franklin, TN. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic and innovative team working on impactful projects.
As a Senior Water Resources/H&H Engineer, you will play a crucial role in delivering cutting-edge solutions to complex water resource challenges. You will collaborate with a team of experienced professionals in our Transportation division, contributing to projects that enhance infrastructure and improve communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide professional design services for transportation improvement projects, including storm drains, culverts, stormwater management systems, green stormwater infrastructure, environmental site design (ESD), low-impact development (LID) facilities, and erosion and sediment control.
- Utilize software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-1, HEC-2, InfoWorks, XPSWMM 1D & 2D, MIKE Flood, ArcGIS 9.3 or later, HEC-GeoRAS, HEC-GeoHMS, and ArcHydro to complete hydrology and hydraulics (H&H) studies.
- Utilize design tools such as Geopak Drainage, OpenRoads SUDA, StormCAD, and HY8 to develop comprehensive stormwater solutions.
- Prepare and submit permit application packages.
- Participate in project development meetings with client teams.
- Coordinate design development efforts, providing technical direction to junior staff, and ensure that deliverables meet quality standards while adhering to project schedules and budgets.
- Assist in developing specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with client technical staff and project managers, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project objectives.
- Mentor and support the development of junior water resource design staff.
Required Skills:
- BS in Engineering (MS in Engineering or a related discipline such as Biological or Agricultural Engineering is a plus).
- 11+ years of experience in Water Resources and Stormwater Design Engineering, including design of storm drains, culverts, stormwater management, BMPs, erosion and sediment control, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, floodplain studies, and environmental permitting.
- A TN Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills for client and interdisciplinary engineering collaboration.
- Experience working with TDOT or Tennessee municipal projects is desirable.
- Familiarity with TDEC, USACE, and/or TVA permitting processes is a plus.
