A highly-ranked community hospital in Northwestern Colorado is seeking an experienced Hospital Speech Language Pathologist to join its award-winning health care team.
The Hospital Speech Pathologist will join an organization renowned for its 24/7 commitment to quality care, patient satisfaction, and patient safety. The Hospital Speech Language Pathologist will report directly to the Director of Physical Therapy and will work with a team of experienced Speech Pathologists, collaborating with a large interdisciplinary team in order to help their patients improve and assist them on their road to recovery. The Hospital Speech Language Therapist will play an integral role in providing quality care and will work with a patient population with a wide variety of diagnoses. The Speech Pathology team will mainly focus on assessing patients who have difficulty swallowing or speaking. These patients may be on Acute Rehabilitation, Medical-Surgical or Intensive Care Units.
The experienced Speech Therapist will help their patients' nurses and doctors assess the patient’s ability to safely swallow food and if there are any changes that need to be made to their diet and feeding care plans. The Hospital Speech Language Pathologist will also supervise all muscle strengthening exercises and will be responsible for patient assessment, treatment planning and implementation of new activities. They will provide the patient and their family members with helpful tools needed for more effective communication techniques. They will encourage participation and provide guidance to both patients and staff when reviewing instructions. The Hospital Speech Language Therapist will accurately document patient progress and report any changes to their health care team.
The Inpatient Speech Language Pathologist will have a current Colorado Speech Language-Pathologist License, a current Certification of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (CCC-SLP), a Master's Degree or equivalent in Speech/Language Pathology, and recent experience in speech language pathology services, ideally within the acute care and/or home health settings.
