Matrix Providers is hiring a Clinical Psychologist to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families at the Naval Health Clinic, Newport, RI.
- Setting: Clinical, Medical Homeport
- Role: Internal Behavioral Health Consultant, Clinical Psychologist, will evaluate and treat patients dealing with various issues, including pain management, psychological factors influencing physical conditions, or difficulty coping with medical problems, while providing psychological assessments and interventions to support patients in managing their physical health and well-being.
- Bonus: $5000.00
- Schedule: Monday - Friday (between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM)
- No nights, no weekends, no on-call.

Requirements: The Psychologist must have and meet the following:
- Degree: Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
- Education: Graduate from an American Psychology Association-accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology.
- Internship: Successful completion of an internship in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association.
- Fellowship/Residency: One year fellowship or residency in health psychology or behavioral medicine or one year of experience in the last three years in the evaluation and treatment of patients who have pain, psychological factors affecting their physical condition, or difficulty coping with medical problems.
- Licensure: Current, complete, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a psychologist in any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the US Virgin Islands.
Job Summary:
- Provide concise documentation of care and recommendations in patient’s medical record in no less than 24 hours after the patient is seen.
- Participate in individual and group appointments, not to exceed approximately 16 sessions per day.
- Participate in group medical appointments including Shared Medical Appointments (SMA) and Drop in Group Medical Appointments (DIGMA) as requested by the Primary Care Manager (PCM).
- Provide technical direction and clinical insight into relevant projects being conducted at the site of service.
- Assigned to the Medical Homeport Department.
- Ensure the quality and timeliness of records, reports, and documentation of services provided.
- Practice within the guidelines of their state licensing board, American Psychological Association Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct, and MTF privileges.
- Conduct psychological evaluations utilizing information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and collateral sources, as appropriate.
- Establish psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders.
- Provide psychological treatment for individuals and groups; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.
- Assist in the rehabilitation of patients.
Note: The majority of duties will be performed within the Medical Homeport Department, with the possibility of outpatient behavioral health responsibilities not exceeding 40% of weekly duty time upon request by command.
