Compensation: $99,090 - $161,025

Duties
Pre-Project / Contract Review: Gather and review business requirements, technical specifications, business process redesign, and information workflow processes. Identify appropriate resources to map, create, and document needed project specifications if business requirements, technical specifications, or workflow processes do not exist. Document details of project scope and objectives, work with appropriate HSIS leaders to define the role of each project team member to effectively define and coordinate the activities of the project team(s).
Customer Relationship Management / Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Effectively communicate with customers regularly for the duration of the project to include informing them of project delays and issues. Create and maintain a trust relationship with stakeholders within and beyond HSIS.
Professional Presence / Presentation Skills: Routinely create and/or deliver electronic presentations about project initiation, status, and closure to the Office of the Chief Information Officer and UAB Medicine executive leaders. Attend all relevant huddle meetings. Maintain a high level of professionalism in appearance, communication, and demeanor at all times. May routinely mentor more junior project management staff and provide feedback on their work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Autonomously manage complex and strategic projects and other meetings including documentation of participants, action items, next steps, and decisions made at the meeting.
- Lead activities of project team(s) including scheduling and facilitating team meetings.
- Create long and short-term project plans, including setting project milestones, target completion dates, and ensuring all deadlines are adhered to.
- Serve as point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.
- Adjust project schedule and target completion dates on the project as needed to accommodate for change related to the project.
- Communicate with executives or HSIS leadership to ensure the project is aligned with department goals.
- Document and monitor any and all risks associated with the project.
- Update project sponsor and team regarding project status and progress on a regular basis.
- Perform contract analysis including addressing any data stewardship concerns.
- Along with project sponsors, identify measurable benefits of proposed projects.
- May independently run and be responsible for various standing meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a related field and ten (10) years of related experience required. Work experience may not substitute for education requirement.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS ETC.
Required: One or more certifications in the fields of project management or process certifications e.g. (PMP, Agile, Six Sigma, etc.)
Preferred:
Epic certification not required. The person in this role needs previous experience successfully managing large, complex projects in a healthcare environment. Ambulatory projects experience is strongly preferred. Experience with Epic is also preferred but not required. Knowledge of ambulatory clinical operations and workflows, patient scheduling and intake, check-in and kiosk processes and workflows, patient throughput principles, and the nuances between primary care and other specialty practices is also preferred. Strong project management skills are needed, along with familiarity using key project management tools and disciplines. Strong communication and follow-up skills. Ability to effectively manage human and financial project.
