Senior Staff Nurse - Pre-Assessment

Shift times: Monday – Friday (9-5 or 10-6)

We are expanding our Pre-operative assessment team and we are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Senior Staff Nurse at The Harborne Hospital.
As a Senior Pre-Assessment Nurse, you will conduct thorough health assessments and provide comprehensive support to patients at the pre-assessment clinic, enabling them to be as prepared for their procedure and subsequent recovery period. You will review patients from multiple surgical specialities and prepare our patients for their surgery, optimise their health and help to reduce cancellations.
You will undertake pre-operative tests for all our patients and work as a key part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The Harborne Hospital - part of HCA Healthcare UK is a brand new £100 million, purpose-built 50 bed, multi-speciality private hospital.
Located on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham campus, the hospital has a deep clinical infrastructure, equipment and facilities and expert, experienced teams to deliver full clinical pathways across a mix of specialties and sub-specialties at all levels of complexity including Cardiology, Cancer and Complex Surgery.
The Harborne Hospital is the 4th NHS partnership within this network, partnering with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust.
What you’ll bring:
- NMC Registered
- Experience in pre-operative assessment, with demonstrated proficiency in conducting thorough assessments and developing care plans
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anaesthesia, and perioperative care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Leadership abilities to provide guidance and mentorship to the pre-assessment team
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple patient assessments and documentation
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment
- Basic Adult Life Support
- Understanding of Safeguarding issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Competent with computers and able to use clinical systems
