Where You Will Work
Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support global operations in finance, human resources, information technology, planning and more from the main office, satellite offices or online. As a Hybrid employee, you will collaborate primarily virtually anywhere in the U.S. except California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and South Carolina. Additional states may be excluded based on business factors. Occasionally, you may be required to attend in-person meetings at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and/or one of our site locations.
Description
Under general supervision, plan, organize, manage and control the industrial hygiene and safety programs. Supervise through Senior Supervisors.
- Develop, implement, and assess elements of the H&S management system.
- Direct, develop, and monitor occupational health and safety practices for the site.
- Conduct hazard evaluations, risk assessments and coordinate with respective division leadership to implement appropriate actions for correction. Mentor H&S staff in this process.
- Lead complex and high severity incident investigations and root cause analyses. Provide guidance to management team during a crisis. Work with external parties in emergency response efforts. Oversee and maintain records of accidents as required by law.
- Provide guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, State and Federal regulations.
- Ensure that all training mandated by MSHA, OSHA or other body is provided and updated as appropriate. Serve as the secondary site contact with MSHA, OSHA or other regulatory bodies.
- Contribute to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for health and safety systems and issues.
- Coordinate the activities of vendors and contractors for the provision of services and equipment.
- Work with employees to correct deficiencies. Implement disciplinary procedures and recommend terminations. Investigate complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary.
- Oversee and recommend the selection of staff. Participate in the selection of staff.
- Represent site on company-sponsored steering teams, e.g., the Company Safety Steering Team.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Leading or supervising personnel and/or projects, AND
- High School diploma or GED and nine (9) years of experience in Health & Safety or related, OR
- Associates degree and seven (7) years of experience in Health & Safety or related, OR
- Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of experience in Health & Safety or related, OR
- Master’s degree and three (3) years of experience in Health & Safety or related.
Preferred
- Experience with Change Management
- Project Management experience with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders of all levels
- Developing champions in the field
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
Criteria/Conditions
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
- Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
- Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk
- Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds
- Position requires frequent travel to manufacturing locations where walking, carrying equipment, climbing stairs and ladders will be required
- Ability to travel (50%); must have, or be capable of qualifying for a passport
- Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
What We Offer You
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $93,000-$130,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
