Urgent Care
0.50 - 0.80 FTE, 40 - 64 Hours a Pay Period
Days/Evenings, Hours between 7 am - 7 pm (Monday - Friday) and 7 am - 4 pm (Saturday & Sunday)
Weekends: Every Third Weekend
Holidays: Every Third Weekend
Position Overview:
The Registered Nurse (RN) for Urgent Care is responsible for the triage and care of Urgent Care (UC) patients. The RN is skilled in all aspects of nursing process, assists the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) role on the same shift and is responsible to deliver the highest of customer service standards for patients and families presenting for services at Urgent Care. The RN will assess and triage patients to make certain of the appropriateness of care.
- Will provide patient care including but not limited to the essential duties and responsibilities listed below:
- Rooming of patients
- Performing assessments and gathering of data for the physician
- Patient information will be entered into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Direct patient care will include but is not limited to: taking vital signs, medication administration, treatments, IV's, and monitoring of patients
- Scheduling coordination of care for patients referred for specialty care and general assistance to the provider as needed
- Coordinate necessary care for patients with other departments as appropriate
- Other responsibilities may include phlebotomy and performing laboratory testing
- Provides the highest level of patient care coordination in compliance with RN licensure to include but not limited to:
- Oversees and delegates LPNs, CMAs, and CNAs to ensure compliance with the Nurse Practice Act
- Physical assessments of patients
- Triaging of presenting patients for appropriateness of care
- Taking vital signs and monitoring patients
- ECG completion
- Administration of medications, fluids, and immunizations as ordered
- Implements protocols/orders after appropriate assessments
- Assisting provider with procedures
- Insertion and discontinuation of urinary catheters
- Infusion therapy through central lines
- Ensures proper patient follow-up and documentation including but not limited to:
- Inputting all applicable data into the EMR (Cerner)
- Contacting patients with lab results and medication changes as ordered by the physician
- Follow-up on patient phone calls
- Coordinating of schedules, procedures, and supplies
- Coordinating and scheduling of care for patients referred for specialty care
- Ensuring nursing supplies and medications are available
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
Required:
- Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- RN License - MN
- Current BLS Certification
- Must be able to perform IV insertions and discontinuation with training
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and basic EKG testing or ability to learn upon hire
- Basic computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, and Patient Information Database (Cerner)
