CareerStaff Unlimited partners with companies around the country to raise the bar in healthcare by setting new standards for quality care and personalized service. Responsibilities for this Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant opportunity include, but are not limited to:
- Provides Occupational Therapy services to patients under the direct supervision of an Occupational Therapist designated by the client facility, in accordance with the state regulations.
- Assists the Occupational Therapist in the evaluation process, identifying problems, short term goals, long term goals, and treatment plan as directed or as needed.
- Identifies indications for and assists in evaluation at appropriate intervals under the direction of the occupational therapist.
- Assists in selection of Occupational Therapy techniques/media and in the sequence of activities, adapts techniques/media as indicated by patient performance and following consultation with the Occupational Therapist.
- Assists in establishing and modifying patient schedules in conjunction with the Occupational Therapist and other team members.
- Adheres to department and patient schedule and modifies as appropriate for treatment regimen.
- Maintains acceptable patient care ratios as determined by the Occupational Therapist.
- Provides/recommends/constructs adaptive devices or other equipment trains patient, family, and appropriate staff in the use or application of the above.
- Participates in patient, family, and staff education.
- Confers formally and informally with other team members in coordinating the total rehabilitation program of the patient.
- Adheres to client’s Occupational Therapy Department procedures regarding documentation of Occupational Therapy services.
- Provides treatment in accordance with established standards of practice, client’s department procedures, and productivity standards.
- Maintains safe and clean work area and adheres to facility/company safety standards.
- Consistently demonstrates sound judgment in the evaluation, planning, implementation, and follow-up of patient therapy programs.
- Maintains positive relationships and rapport with coworkers, patients, family members and facility personnel.
- Reports to work at time designated by client/facility and coordinates schedule to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency during assigned shift.
- Complies with all Infection Control, Universal Precautions, and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of patient and client information.
- Projects a positive and professional image at all times. Adheres to the dress code of the client facility.
- Ensures that all OSHA and safety standards are followed, as applicable to the position and in the business location or workplace.
- Maintains safe and clean work area and adheres to location/company safety standards.
- Adheres to location and company policy and procedures.
- Adheres to established HIPAA confidentiality standards of patient/resident and client location information.
- Performs all other tasks or duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COTA CERTIFIED OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT:
- Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Successful completion of the National Certification for O.T.A.
- 1 year of verifiable, supervised professional experience.
- Valid COTA license or license eligible in the state of practice.
