Speech Language Pathologist needed for schools in Trenton, NJ
NVO is seeking a dedicated SLP to provide services in Trenton, NJ. The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide speech and language therapy services to students in preschool, elementary, and possible middle school programs. The SLP will assess and treat speech, language, and communication disorders, helping students develop essential communication skills to support their academic and social success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluation and Assessment:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' speech, language, voice, and fluency skills.
- Use standardized tools and observation to identify communication disorders and create individualized treatment plans.
- Therapy Services:
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans (IEPs) to address students’ communication challenges.
- Provide direct therapy for a range of speech and language disorders, including articulation, receptive/expressive language, and social communication.
- Monitor and track student progress toward communication goals, adjusting strategies as needed.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families to support student communication needs within the classroom and at home.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of goals and accommodations for students with communication disorders.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain thorough records of evaluations, therapy sessions, progress notes, and IEP updates.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including those related to special education services (IDEA).
- Consultation and Training:
- Provide consultation and training to teachers and staff on strategies to support speech and language development in the classroom.
- Offer guidance to parents on how to reinforce therapy goals at home.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- New Jersey state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligibility for Clinical Fellowship (CF).
- Experience working with young children, particularly in a preschool or elementary school setting.
- Preferred:
- Experience in school-based speech therapy.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and its impact on communication.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of speech, language, and communication disorders.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with IEP development and school-based documentation.
